New York — Black women are doing just fine, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing left for them to do.

In the weeks since the New York City police killed Eric Garner, one of the country’s most famous black men, and Michael Brown, an unarmed black man, in Ferguson, Missouri, they’ve been inundated with messages and comments like: “This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” “We’ve been waiting for this for so long,” “My mom, my brother, I can’t stop crying,” “I just want this to be the last time I see you.”

In this exclusive interview, the stars of Black beauty and fashion, who are also black, tell us how the new Black Lives Matter movement has affected their lives and how they’re now inspired by the message to make their own black beauty messages.
